thunderDesk - our inspired console
Our desk is the result of a complete rethink about the concept of a mixing desk for today’s engineer. The thunderDesk™ is a moving fader production console, an integrated music player, a keyboard instrument and a flexible working surface, all skilfully crafted in beautiful oak.
Pivotal to our ideas about a contemporary mix philosophy, we designed the thunderDesk to help solve the limitations and frustrations that we as engineers experience when mixing music.
We believe mixing is a personal and creative process and so with the creation of the thunderDesk we have dared ourselves to be specific about what is absolutely essential: our likes, needs and must-haves.
Whether we are working or not our desk stands as a pleasing visual aesthetic which also just happens to play music.
Our desk is a sound source. With it’s own integrated 9.1 speaker system the desk is an independent sound source - no computers required. Two built-in touch screens facilitate streaming of music, radio from internet or digitally from a laptop.
Our hand-made sliding tile system allows us to use our desk in countless flexible ways.
The desk has retractable high resolution displays with video switching for our multiple Protools rigs. The screens are electronically height adjustable and can be completely lowered allowing focus on listening and watching film.
Our desk has valves - 28 in fact. With two custom levelling valve amplifiers built in we have the best of old technology reimagined for new works.
Our desk is an instrument, containing a beautiful hand-crafted wooden keyboard which can be used to play piano through the desk via the built-in desk speakers. It can also be used as a midi controller for our DAWs.
ThunderDesk helps us control our environment, with large main monitor pot, Integrated 1960's vintage mixer for quick access for music playback, Grace monitoring controller, studio lighting controls so we can adjust our light temperature and listening modes. Our desk even has sophisticated technology built-in that silently emits the purest air all day and night.
